After a contentious few days, it appears that Senator Mitt Romney will officially vote in favor of a subpoena seeking records about Hunter Biden’s work with the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.
At first, it appeared that Romney was going to vote against the investigation into Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son but after speaking with his fellow senators, he has decided to support the subpoena.
“Senator Romney has expressed his concerns to Chairman Johnson, who has confirmed that any interview of the witness would occur in a closed setting without a hearing or public spectacle. He will therefore vote to let the chairman proceed to obtain the documents that have been offered.”
In the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Republicans only have an 8-6 majority so if Sen. Romney would have voted against the subpoena, the vote would have failed with a 7-7 tie.
It’s about time that Romney got on board with his fellow Republicans and President Trump. He’s likely trying to make up for his gaffe of voting against President Trump in the impeachment trial.
