Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. stopped by Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” today to discuss the upcoming Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into the FBI’s use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to conduct surveillance of Carter Page when he briefly worked for the Trump campaign. He also wants answers on what exactly initiated the Russia probe.
The investigation comes about after a recent report was released from the Justice Department Inspector General that detailed inaccuracies or outright omissions on the part of the FBI in which they misled the FISA court in the process of warrant applications. Graham alleges that the phony dossier, which was apparently compiled as part of opposition research for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, played too big of a role in instigating the partisan investigation.
Former FBI Director James Comey and former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe have both insisted that they were not aware of this fact but Lindsey Graham and the Senate Judiciary Committee aren’t buying that.
“Now I want to know, what did McCabe and Comey know, when did they know that the dossier was unreliable?”
Graham believes that the author of the dossier, Christopher Steele, did not use credible sources and doubts that the FBI did not know this.
“I find it hard to believe that that did not work its way up to Comey and McCabe.”
Graham wants the committee to call Comey, McCabe, and Rod Rosenstein as witnesses this coming week and make them answer his questions under oath.
“Did Rosenstein know that the dossier had been debunked by the time he signed the warrant? How could he not know? … Here’s my question to Rosenstein: if you knew then what you know now, that it was a bunch of garbage, would you have appointed Mueller?”
Are you glad that these men will finally be asked these questions under oath? It’s about time we found out some real answers.
