After Buttgieg Attacks Mike Pence’s Faith, Karen Pence Defends Their Christian Values

Newly minted Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg made headlines last week when he came out of nowhere and slammed Mike Pence for his religious beliefs.

Buttigieg, an openly gay former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, made comments shaming Mike Pence for opposing gay marriage.

“Speaking only for myself, I can tell you that if me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade. And that’s the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me. Your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”

These comments came completely unprovoked from Mike Pence, who has made his views on gay marriage known in the past but doesn’t regularly make comments on the subject.

Christians across America did not take Buttigieg’s speech lightly, as it felt directly like he was attacking religious freedoms in this country.

Mike Pence’s wife Karen came to his and all Christian’s defense on the Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox Radio this week where she condemned the attack on religion.

“I think in our country we need to understand you shouldn’t be attacked for what your religious beliefs are and I think kids need to learn that at a young age that this is OK, what faith people have; we don’t attack them for their faith.”

It is so refreshing to hear high visibility public figures like Karen Pence speaking out about the rise in attacks on religious freedoms for all.
