White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was cornered by reporters today while leaving the White House on a cold December day.
At first, she joked, “can I just blow right past you guys or no?” The group of reporters laughed but then launched right into questioning her on the funding for the border wall that Democrats are refusing to approve.
They asked her what President Trump will do if Senate Democrats vote down the bill for border wall funding. Sarah reminded them that Senate Democrats have a Constitutional duty to protect this country and that they need to step up and do that.
She also reminded them that Democrats have supported border security, and even a border wall in the past but because they do not like President Trump, they are obstructing him for no good reason.
She then interjected with something that will go down in history.
“I think it’s a sad day in America when the Mexican government is doing more to protect our borders and stop the illegal flow of drugs, human trafficking, and terrorists across our border than Senate Democrats are willing to do.”
Senate Democrats are putting American lives at risk by refusing to fund border security that they have, in the past, been proponents of. Sarah is completely right that it’s a sad day when that happens for purely political reasons.
